Meet The Team
Michel (Mike) Labbé, MSM, is an Urban and Regional Planning Graduate from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. He has been involved in the production of affordable housing for 40 years, the first 13 working on subsidized rental projects with Lantana Non-profit Housing Corporation.
In 1992, Mike founded Options for Homes Non-Profit Corporation. As President of Options For Homes Non-profit Corporation, Mike was instrumental in developing thousands of households across 12 developments. Options for Homes has become an important part of the Social Enterprise movement and has provided homes to over 6500 households across Canada.
Mike has been honoured for his work over the years as an Affordable Housing Champion by the City of Toronto in 2010, the Canadian Urban Institute Local Hero Award in 2008, and most notably, a recipient of a Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) from the Governor General of Canada in 2016.
In 2015, Mike shifted his focus to Options International to implement our model globally in order to aid with alleviating poverty - reaching over 22 countries.
For the past few years he has dedicated his time to a new cost-effective home ownership model using his knowledge built over the years, which led to the creation of Home Opportunities.
Gema Rodriguez is a professional civil engineer, certified project manager (PMP), and a licensed Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) in addition to a degree in sustainablility and social enterprise.
Over the years she has developed experience in planning, design, and implementation of infrastructure projects in complex municipal settings allowing her to work with the private, public, and non-profit sector in Nicaragua and Canada.
Gema strongly believes that volunteer contributions in communities create significant impact in the development of our nations, and that while acting locally, we are thinking globally.
Gema has been with the Home Opportunities team for over 5 years, and is looking forward to many more.

Mickayla Labbé
Marketing & Sales Strategist.
Mickayla Labbe graduated from the University of Guelph with a commerce degree in Marketing Management and a certificate in Leadership.
She has always been passionate about exploring new opportunities for cost effective home ownership around the world.
Since graduating Mickayla has focused on leading First Fish, one of the Opportunities for Change groups that works with indigenous communities to provide sustainable seafood across Canada to support Inuit communities on Baffin Island.
Mickayla has transitioned into Marketing & Sales Strategist for Home Opportunities and is looking to bring a unique approach to the team.
Pauline Praseuth was introduced to the Home Opportunities team in 2013 while working towards a diploma in Architectural Technology, and has since also completed a Bachelor of Technology in Construction Management and a Bachelor of Technology Education.
To learn more about our work, Pauline began volunteering at Options International. After her summer co-op she joined full-time position as Construction Co-ordinator for over 6 years where she travelled with the team and was integral in developing housing across 5 countries.
Pauline now works in large private sector development and sits on the Home Opportunites board.
